The third phase of the Park Hill is now complete and occupied. Alumno, who is the development partner for this section is proud to unveil Béton House that offers townhouses, 2 & 4 bed flats and studio accommodation for 356 students.  Béton House has been designed by South Yorkshire Region based architects Whittam Cox, the contractor was Keir and Alumno worked with a series of artists to animate the communal indoor and outdoor areas. Overseen by curator Matthew Jarratt, Sheffield’s first poet laureate was commissioned to write poems about Park Hill, a Park Hill font has been created and the well known designer Ben Kelly created the interior design of the communal areas. Artist Martin Gray has also made a new short film featuring those involved in the construction.

We create student living spaces all over the UK – our dedicated and creative team shared a vision that we feel we have realised – utilising and celebrating the assets afforded by the Park Hill building, recognising its historical community values and ensuring there it has a new but sympathetic identity and a permanent legacy that is reflected though the art installations.

Béton House is now managed on site by Homes for Students and is up and running with a team helping familiarise those new to the city and looking after the welfare of the resident students during lockdown 2.0.
